I’d like to talk about the river in my hometown called Songhua River.

It runs across the city and definitely beautifies the whole area. The night views along the river are gorgeous when all the lights are on. There are skyscrapers on both sides of the river, and most of them are high-rise apartment buildings. The government installed decorative lights on the walls of the buildings, and when it’s getting dark, the lights start to show attractive and creative patterns, which light up the whole place.

And there are several bridges over the river. The streetlights on the bridges are another magnet for citizens and visitors. Everyday we can see many photographers take pictures near the river.

I guess another reason why the river means a lot to the local people is that it provides electric power for the whole city. There’s a power station upstream working 24-7.

The most magical scenery along the river must be the rime on the trees during winter. Like I mentioned earlier, we have a power station, so the water in the river is always flowing, it won’t freeze even when the temperature is 30 degrees below zero. And when the steam rises from the river and meets the cold branches of willow trees, it just turns into ice. And from a distance, it just looks like a wonderland.

This river is like a symbol of my hometown, and that’s why it’s really important.

I’d like to tell you about somebody I met online a couple of weeks ago. This person lives in another country and we met in a Skype chat group. We were there to practice speaking English.

There were about six of us at the time. There was one person in particular that I thought was very interesting, and she spoke very good English, so I asked to chat with her after the session and that’s when we really chatted a lot and got to know each other a little better.

I made a simple kite for my son during the last National Day. Since I’d never made a kite before, I’d thought it would be a tough task. But it turned out that making a kite was actually just a piece of cake.

Besides, doing a hand work offered me and my son an opportunity to experience the simple pleasures of life.

Answer: It seems to me that this is a bit ambiguous. More precisely, present giving is something that occurs in special events, for example, at birthdays, festivals, anniversaries, wedding, graduation day, on name days, when someone visits others and so on. I would say that in the past, specifically 10 years ago, the types of gifts exchanged were primarily clothes, toys, household appliances and books. Apart from the fact that they weren't related to technology, they were also significantly important, educational and in most cases really expensive. Nowadays, presents are more of symbolic rather than substantial or useful. Personally, I would spend more money to purchase a branded product. Hence I am quite positive that brand name is important for sales. My belief is that brand name really matters and it affects the sales volume of a product. Most companies spend a huge amount of money on branding in order to make the product or service famous and well-known. We could say that branding is an enterprise itself because it constitutes an amazingly important part of the company and its viability.
